Shirdi is 1,200 km from Delhi, a long southward run through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh into Maharashtra, and it is realistically two days of driving each way with a night halt at Indore in both directions. We run it on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway as far as Ratlam, which saves about 150 km and seven hours of driving over the old Gwalior–Guna highway. The destination is the Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir, where Sai Baba lived for sixty years and where the queue for darshan runs around the clock — which is why timing matters more here than at most temples. The complex includes Dwarkamai, the mosque where he kept the sacred fire burning, Chavadi where he slept on alternate nights, and Gurusthan with the neem tree. Most of our Shirdi trips add Shani Shingnapur, 70 km away, the village famous for houses without doors. Families travelling by road also value that the whole group stays together in one vehicle for the full journey.
