Delhi to Kashmir Taxi Tour — 6 Days / 5 Nights

850 km from Delhi • Jammu & Kashmir • Complete 6-day itinerary

Srinagar is 850 km from Delhi, and the drive up is a two-day proposition rather than a single push — NH-44 runs well as far as Jammu, after which the Jammu-Srinagar highway climbs through Ramban and the Banihal–Qazigund tunnel, a stretch that can be slow in bad weather and is occasionally held for convoy traffic. We break the journey with a night at Jammu or Patnitop on the way up and a night at Jammu on the way back, so nobody is on that section tired. Once in the valley the distances are short: Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg are each a day trip from Srinagar, and a houseboat night on Dal Lake is worth building in. Our drivers on this route have run the valley for years and hold the permits and paperwork the highway checkpoints ask for.
