Amritsar's history in a day — the Golden Temple at dawn, Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum and the old fort — with the border ceremony in the evening.

  3. 9:30 AM Jallianwala Bagh The garden where British troops fired on an unarmed crowd on 13 April 1919. The bullet marks in the walls and the martyrs' well are preserved.
  4. 10:30 AM Partition Museum The world's first museum of the 1947 Partition, built around the stories of the people who lived through it. Closed on Mondays.
  5. 12:30 PM Lunch at Bharawan Da Dhaba A vegetarian dhaba near the Town Hall, known for its kulchas and lassi.

  8. 4:30 PM Beating Retreat ceremony The flag-lowering ceremony at the Attari–Wagah border, 30 km from Amritsar, with high-stepping BSF drill and a stadium crowd. It starts before sunset; arrive two hours early, carry photo ID and leave bags in the car.

Sightseeing and road conditions

Sightseeing is subject to the opening days and hours of each monument. We are not responsible if a monument, temple or park is closed on the day of your visit.

In some places the local taxi union does not allow outside vehicles for local sightseeing — in Ladakh, and for Rohtang Pass in Manali. There, the local sightseeing is done in a local taxi, paid separately.

Journey times may be affected by traffic, police or administrative restrictions, VIP movement, processions, strikes or road works, and we are not responsible for delays or itinerary changes caused by them.

In the event of a landslide, flood, heavy snowfall, earthquake or any other natural occurrence that closes a road or a monument, we are not responsible for the resulting delay, detour or cancellation. Any additional running or halt on that account is charged as per actual.
