6. 6:00 PM Golden Temple Sri Harmandir Sahib, the holiest shrine of the Sikhs, its gilded sanctum standing in the Amrit Sarovar. It is open day and night; cover your head, remove shoes and wash your feet before entering.
7. 8:00 PM Langar at the Golden Temple The community kitchen serves a free meal to everyone who comes, around the clock — often over 50,000 people a day, all cooked and served by volunteers.

3. 9:30 AM Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum The garden where British troops fired on an unarmed crowd on 13 April 1919. The bullet marks in the walls and the martyrs' well are preserved. The Partition Museum next door is closed on Mondays.
4. 12:30 PM Lunch at a Lawrence Road dhaba
5. 1:30 PM Gobindgarh Fort An 18th-century fort, now a heritage park with Punjabi food stalls, folk performances and an evening light-and-sound show.
6. 3:00 PM Drive to the Wagah border
7. 4:30 PM Beating Retreat ceremony The flag-lowering ceremony at the Attari–Wagah border, 30 km from Amritsar, with high-stepping BSF drill and a stadium crowd. It starts before sunset; arrive two hours early, carry photo ID and leave bags in the car.

Two Amritsar temples in the morning, then north through Pathankot into Jammu to Katra, the base for Vaishno Devi. Many pilgrims start the climb the same evening.

1. 7:30 AM Durgiana Temple and Mata Lal Devi Temple Mata Lal Devi's temple is built as a maze of narrow cave-like passages and water channels.
2. 9:30 AM Breakfast, check-out and depart for Katra
3. 12:30 PM Lunch at Pathankot
4. 3:30 PM Arrive in Katra, hotel check-in
5. 4:30 PM Collect the yatra registration card Every pilgrim needs the RFID yatra card, issued free at the counters near the bus stand on showing photo ID.
6. 6:00 PM Start the climb to the Bhawan 13 km from Banganga to the cave shrine, on a paved path with shelters and food all the way. Ponies and palkis are available and are paid on the spot.

Darshan at the holy cave, the climb to Bhairon Nath, and the walk down to Katra.

1. 5:00 AM Darshan at the Bhawan The holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi, with the three natural rock forms worshipped as the Goddess. Phones and bags are deposited before darshan.
2. 7:30 AM Bhairon Nath Temple 2.5 km above the Bhawan; the yatra is considered complete only after a visit here. A ropeway runs from the Bhawan.
3. 9:00 AM Breakfast and the walk down
4. 1:00 PM Back in Katra, lunch and rest
5. 6:00 PM Katra market for prasad and dry fruit

The long drive home through Jammu, Pathankot and Punjab.
